Laurens Roussel [1628 - 1691]
Laurens Roussel was born 2 December 1628 to Laurens Roussel [1599 - 1677] and Elizabeth Desormeaux, daughter of Francis Desormeaux, an Apothecary. Laurens (II) was also an Apothecary. In 1665 he married Marguerite Langlois (daughter of Jacques Langlois and Anne Chefdhostel) on November 1, 1665 at theQuevilly Temple, Normandy, France. Jacques Langlois was a Rouen Goldsmith. The couple had five children. The family lived at Pontaudemer, near the church of St. Germain (a suburb of Ponteaudemer). At the time of the family's flight to England Laurens was under house arrest because of his religious beliefs. He remained in France and died in his home on August 1, 1691 It is said that he suffered and long final illness lasting several years. He was buried, incognito, the following day in his own garden.
