Samuel Beuzeville ((1717-1782), an Uncle of Pierre Beuzeville (the silk weaver of Spitalfields who married his cousin, Mary Meredith, and moved to Henley-on-Thames in 1797) was born at St. Thomas de Gruchet, near Bolbec, Normandy.  Samuel Beuzeville took Holy Orders and was the Pastor of the Church of St. Jean, Spitalfields from 1758 until 1782.  In his WILL dated February 12, 1771 he bequeathed five pounds to 'The poor Protestants of Bolbec, the place of my nativity'. 

The Protestants of Bolbec also received a bequest from another family member, Jacques Guillemard, a brother of the Marie Guillemard who married Jaques Beuzeville.  Jacques Guillemard died in 1826 and in his Will left One hundred pounds "if the Protestant subjects residing in Bolbec in Upper Normandy obtain leave to erect and build a chuch before or by the expiration of 1798". The church was built and completed in 1797.  The bi-Centenary was celebrated in November 1997.  Below is a copy of the register of the Temple at Bolbec showing the entry making this bequest.

I bequeath to my wife (Elizabeth Ourry) five hundred pounds, the household furniture and my library.My capital in my brother Stephen's hands to my daughter (Charite) at her age of 21, if my daughter die before the same to be divided among the children of my brothers James & Peter, deceased. (Books left to Mr. Ephraim Flammase & Rev. Mr. John Moor, Mr. Daniel de Bray).
To Hannah, eldest daughter of cousin James Levesque, ten pounds.
To the poor of my chuch of St. John, five pounds.
To five inhabitants of this parish, poor, not descended from French, five pounds.
To the poor protestants of Bolbec, the place of my nativity, five pounds.
To the religious society meeting in Cock Lane, near Club Row, Spittlefields, five pounds.
To the Synagogue in Leadenhall Street, five pounds.
To Mr. Paz, a Portuguese Jew, friend to Messieurs Moor, father & son, and to me, ten pounds.
To my friend, Mr. William Sedgley, five pounds.
To Mrs. Gosselia, widow, five pounds.
To Mrs. Cordelis, schoolmistress, five pounds.
To Mrs. Herbert, widow of an elder of my church, five pounds.
To Mr. Perochon, elder, five pounds and to Mr. Baraud, his apprentice, five pounds.
To John Louvel, first child baptised in St. Jean church, when rebuilt, five pounds.
Executors: - My brother Stephen & my nephew, Peter Beuzeville.

No witnesses - handwriting sworn to 17 Jan. 1782, by William Belconcle, of Tower Hamlet, London, gent. & John Marplay, of St. Botolph, Bishopsgate, London, gent.
