This would be a poor world indeed
without the
inspiration of ancestral memories
James Philip Hewlett(1780-1820) and Esther Beuzeville
(1786-1851)were married at Henley-on-Thames in 1809.This brought
together the English Puritan family of Hewlett and the French
Huguenot families of Beuzeville and Roussel.
James Philip was educated at the Choir school, New College and later
became a Chaplain to New College and to Magdalen College, and was a
curate at St. Aldates, Oxford. He died in 1820 aged 39 years.
Esther was a prolific author publishing educational books, works
of domestic economy, and short novels based on conservative
religious values.
The couple lived in Oxford and had five children.
This history encompasses their ancestors and
the descendants of their eldest son James Philip (1810-1878)
who married
Elizabeth Shackleford (1815-1906).
